One New Testament author comments on a verse from this week’s sermon on Mark 13:14-23, “This verse is one of the most difficult in Mark’s gospel, if not in the entire NT.” Though Jesus’ “Olivet Discourse” is a passage that many find confusing, there is one essential command in these verses that we cannot afford to ignore: “be on guard.” God’s people are to be ready at all times for the return of Christ, and that is something we can all agree on!
